Andy begins his race on May 23 well by climbing to 3rd position midway through his heat race. It takes a turn for the worst when the top 2 cars wreck each other and Andy is collected into the wall.

The damage on the car is fixed and Andy is sent out in the feature starting last in a 13-car field. He steadily heads towards the front of the pack but his plans are changed when the motor doesn’t run right. Andy can only make it to 8th because of a blown cylinder in the engine.
