Concord Motorsport Park: September 28th

No Brakes?  Not a Problem for Andy

After two frustrating days of rain, Concord is finally dry enough to get in the last race of the 2008 schedule.  Everyone breathes a sigh of relief as another tough season of racing comes to an end.  2008 has brougth all new challenges to KBR that the boys have taken in stride, having fun all the way.

Kenny starts off the day with a new setup that makes the #36 ReMax Bandolero extremely tight for the qualifying heat.  After a rough freefall from second to 8th, the crew gets the #36 car back in shape for the feature race that Kenny will begin in last.  The changes work for Kenny, and he is able to work his way up the field.  However, when going to make the pass for 5th place, he and the #17 car collide.  With a badly rubbing right front, Kenny pulls off the track.  Car owner, Eric Taylor, makes the quick decisions to rip away the fiberglass hood, and gets the #36 car back on the track just in time.  Unfortunately, the right front suspension is still rubbing the right front, and Kenny is forced to finish 2008 in 7th place.  A frustrating end to the year.

Then came Andy's race.  This time when Andy begins the feature race Andy loses his brakes within the first lap.  Unphased, Andy holds 6th place for the remainder of the race in a stunning display of driving skill.  Narrowly avoiding a mid-race wreck, and somehow managing to slow up for a red flag proves that Andy earned his second place points finish in the 2008 Concord Motorsports Park Young Guns Division Championship.
