Friendship Motorspeedway: June 9th
For the first time in 4 months, Kenny will be driving the #14 bandolero. Everyone is excited to see Kenny driving again. Today is a big day. The day starts off at a scorching 95 degrees, and there are no clouds in sight. Not the best day to be out on the asphalt. Joing us today is Grandpa Brown.
FMS is a 4/10 of a mile long track used for Late Model Stock Cars. Recently they have been allowing Bandolero's to race there under one condition, you must use a restrictor plate. The restrictor plate makes this track much like Talledega or Daytona. This will be a learning experience as well as challenge for Kenny, as he has never driven this style of racing before.
Practice goes well, and Kenny learns some important strategies. Kenny drew a 3rd place starting spot in the heat race. Tonight the officials have grouped together the Outlaw class and the Young Gun class. Kenny begins 3rd overall and 1st in class. Kenny maintains the top 5 with a 4th place finish. Kenny will start on the 2nd row outside for the feature. Kenny has already learned a lot and is ready to put it to use in the feature. The crew decides to make a small change to make the car handle better.
The race begins and Kenny maintains his position. Soon, Kenny is contending for 3rd overall, when he is spun by another driver. Kenny is spun down into the inside retaining wall, while the other car spins up into the outside wall. Kenny rights the car and attempts to drive it back to the pace car, but he has sustained race ending damage. In a flurry, the crew tries to get kenny back on track, but the race ends right as Kenny is ready to go back out. Kenny leaves FMS with a 5th place finish. Another frustrating race.
