The Ken Brown Racing Team starts the Hardee’s Summer Shootout with high hopes. Supported by sponsors Detroit Speed and Engineering, Terri Church of Keller Williams, and Husband’s Helper, the yellow twister bandolero is ready to win. Kenny starts 13th in the A feature and, coincidentally, it is June 13th (maybe we should pack it up and go home)! With seven laps to go, Kenny goes high on the track to avoid a wreck, is spun by another car, and backs into the wall. His car is heavily damaged but continues to run. Kenny is told to leave the track. He drives to pit lane where Dad, brother Andy, and friends are waiting with screwdrivers in hand. “Get me back out there, this car is awesome!” Kenny shouts. The crew tears off the broken bodywork and sends him back out. From the back of the pack, 25th place, Kenny expertly works his way past eight cars which puts him in 17th place when the checkered flag comes out. An exciting comeback is celebrated by all!
