Quaker Steak and Lube Summer Shootout: Race 5
7/8/08
When it rains, it pours, but that didn't stop the Bandolero Outlaws from racing on Tuesday night. Following an hour long storm delay, the Outlaw heat race began in a drizzle on a track that resembled Lake Norman rather than Lowe's Motor Speedway. Kenny began the heat race in 4th and won it by a large margin, earning him 2nd place in the feature.
Within the first lap Kenny gained the lead, and he held it for another wet 14 laps. A caution diminished his 5 second lead on the field, and pushing the car past the limits of the water to keep the lead, nearly spun out costing him several positions. With what little time he had left, Kenny made his way back to 4th place. A very frustrating finish to what could have been a great day despite the rain.
