2009 LMS Summer Shootout Race 8

Week 8 of the Lowe’s Summer Shootout begins ominously as dark clouds cover the racetrack. After a brief downpour, the track is dried and heat races resume. Andy starts 4th in his heat and moves his way into second after two laps. Due to contact with another car and a lack of time to complete the pass for first, Andy settles for second, setting him on the pole for the feature. As the feature grows close, more dark clouds enter the track and the rain pours down, postponing the race until next week. A double header is sure to make week 9 all the more interesting.

On a new day at the track, the makeup feature from week 8 is held early in the day. Andy starts on the pole and the car tight and immediately slides up the track and Andy falls to third. After holding third for several laps, a red flag comes out due to a flipped car and the track cools down over the wait. Once the race resumes, the track is cold and much tighter, and Andy falls to sixth. After catching the fifth place car, a lapped car blocks Andy on the last turn and Andy has to settle for sixth.
