Winter Heat Series 2007-2008: Race 6

Today is the coldest race KBR has endured in 3 seasons of The Winter Heat Series.  It is a bitter 24 degrees outside, and a blustery wind makes everyone cringe.  Dressing in layers today is all the rage, and the propane heaters are at set at full blast.

This is the last race of the Winter Heat Series for Kenny, and he wants to go put with a bang.  The past few races have been disappointing, and everyone wants to feel some success.  Today, the schedule is shortened to one practice, one qualifying heat, and one feature.  It is Sunday after all.  After dialing the car duuring the practice, Kenny works his way from 10th to 5th in the qualifying heat, which is where he will start in the feature.

On the first lap Kenny captures fourth place.  For the next few laps he is involved in a heated battle with the 23 car for 3rd, and on lap 3 he loses it in the long back sweeper.  Kenny now has 3rd, and he keeps it!  Finishing off the remaining 5 laps, Kenny takes the checkered in 3rd place.  This week KBR passes tech inspection and Kenny claims his second offical top 3 finish.  However, the winner and fourth place finisher remain in tech, and the trophies won't be given out till next week.
