Race 5 - 1/16/10

It's been a while since we've been out to the track, so we decided we'd give our old stomping grounds another romp.  Today, Andy took the wheel of the #14 Technique Bandolero for the fifth race of the Charlotte Motor Speedway Winter Heat Series, a road course race.

 

After a productive practice, the #14 was dialed in and ready to go.  Andy began the heat first and finished it that way.  The next heat Andy began in last, but worked his way up to third place.  The two finishes were enough to put Andy on the outside pole for the feature race.

 

The feature began without a hitch for the #14.  Andy's qualifying position kept him out of the big wreck on the first lap, which ended three drivers' days.  When the racing resumed, Andy found himself fighting off the number 24 car for second place.  A spectacular and clean battle ended with Andy on top in second place!  A great finish for only his third race on the road course!
